CYMeK
The CYMek Series is a collection of monoprints that explore the feeling of personal misalignment—those moments when our inner sense of identity doesn't quite line up with how we present ourselves to the world. The concept is inspired by the CMYK printing process, where Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black layers must align perfectly to create a clear, cohesive image. When they don’t, the result is distorted or blurry—off, somehow. That idea felt like a powerful metaphor for how we sometimes experience ourselves: fragmented, unclear, or out of sync.
In this series, I worked from reference photos of people captured in vulnerable or emotionally raw moments—times when they weren’t at their best, but were completely human. Each monoprint intentionally shows the misregistration of color layers, symbolizing that disconnection. By using printing imperfections as part of the process, these portraits highlight the emotional truth in imperfection and remind us that being out of alignment is part of what makes us real.
